DESCRIPTION
This mural reflects the importance of balancing the duality of going up and down in order to meet our essence. It pays tribute to the pre-Hispanic structures uncovered at the hotel, especially the Ehécatl pyramid and the ball court.
The mural offers an abstract rendering of the pyramid, with geometric and symbolic forms that evoke the cultural richness of Mesoamerican civilization. The green line crossing the work symbolizes the serpent of Quetzalcóatl, linking the thirteen heavens and nine underworlds of Mesoamerican cosmology.
The technique combines gestural brushwork with a vibrant, saturated palette that contrasts with the neutral tones of the archaeological remains. This color choice conveys the energy, strength, and life of ancient civilizations; together with organic lines, it suggests to visitors that everything is in constant motion.
